Please read all details before purchasing.
Encounter Details:
You will get the opportunity to pet, feed, and take pictures with Flash the Sloth. A keeper is there to provide information on sloths and Flash and facilitate your interaction with him!
There is no age minimum for guests for this encounter, but children just must be able and willing to follow the directions of the keeper for the encounter or they will be asked to leave the encounter area with an adult.

You will get the opportunity to pet, feed, and take pictures with our Capybaras. A keeper is there to provide information on capybaras and facilitate your interaction with ours!

Field Trips & Tours
Field trips and private group tours are available on days that Summerfield Zoo is not open to the public. Tours are tailored specifically to the age group and are educational fun for 2 year olds to 102 year olds!
Conveniently located in Belvidere, just next to Rockford and minutes from I-90!
The cost for a field trip is $14 per person with a minimum fee of $560. This reserves the zoo for your group for two hours and includes an educational guided tour of all of the species at the zoo. The tour lasts between 1 hour and 1.5 hours - depending upon the number of questions and attention span of the group. The remainder of the time can be used for lunch, snacks, meeting, or a lesson plan. We have a seating area for lunch/snacks.

Can I purchase encounters the day that I visit?
- Encounters must be scheduled ahead of your visit as we will NOT be able to accommodate for animal encounters schedule the day of your visit.
Do I get to hold the sloth?
- You get to pet, feed and take pictures and video with Flash the sloth. For Flash's safety and the safety of our guests we do not allow the guests to hold Flash. There is a keeper there to tell you all about sloths and Flash.
Do I get to hold the capybara?
- You get to pet, feed and take pictures and video with the capys. They make their own decisions about whose lap they crawl in to for scratches and petting. There is a keeper there to tell you all about capybaras.
Is the price per person?
- No, the price includes up to four people. It also includes your admission to the zoo for the day if the encounter is booked on a day that we are open to public.
